Jerry Garcia publically dissed Reagan harshly. But just because you disagree with Fearless Leader doesn't mean you support Hisballah liberationists or al Qaeda terrorists!

High concepts can be used as buzzwords, just what "freedom" do we have if wealth and policy is controlled by an extremely timy minority?

While not exactly liberal, I wanted to post that on this Archive there's an interesting talk by Mother Jones Radio with linguist George Lakoff, who argues that conservatives and liberals have very different definitions of the word "freedom." "There is a radically different and frightening notion of what extremists on the right call 'freedom' shaping our culture and our political life," he warns. Lakoff talks about the right's use of the word and decodes a July 7 statement by George Bush on "freedom" in Iraq.

Thanks for your patience I'll move politics to another space.

"Jerry Garcia publically dissed Reagan harshly."

No kidding! What did you expect; when the Gipper's 1966 campaign for governor of California, included a lot of angry speeches about those stoned hippies in the Haight-Ashbury. You can see old videos of Ronnie going off on the San Francisco scene on the HISTORY CHANNEL and PBS specials.

The GRATEFUL DEAD and their concerts were a major DEA target! We even know the names, of jerks, who prosecuted Heads for the US DOJ in the day time. They went to drug infested shows at night...
